Marbella in December 2026: Weather, Holidays and What Is Confirmed
Guide to Marbella · 22 October 2026
In this guide
Marbella in December 2026 is best planned as a mild-weather town break with indoor options and careful holiday bookings. One Palacio competition is already announced for 10–12 December. As of 22 October, we have not verified the municipal Christmas lights switch-on, market dates or parade programme: do not book around dates copied from a previous year.

December weather and packing
AEMET's Málaga Airport historical 1981–2010 December normals are 17.5°C average daily maximum, 8.9°C average daily minimum and 100 mm monthly rainfall. The station is in Málaga, not Marbella, and these are regional climate references rather than a 2026 forecast. Coastal wind and wet spells can change a day's plans. A beach walk is more dependable as an option than sea bathing as the purpose of the trip.
Pack layered clothing, a warm jumper, waterproof outerwear and closed walking shoes. Ask whether your accommodation has heating and whether a pool advertised in the booking is actually heated and available in December. Use the live Marbella forecast for your dates, and keep a sheltered alternative to every exposed outdoor plan.
Announced activities versus unverified Christmas details
| Date | Activity or status | Time | Venue | Source | Booking or next action |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10–12 December 2026 | Vive tu Sueño Andalucía final, announced | First-day opening 10:00; final-day end 22:00; daily timetable unverified | Palacio, Calle José Meliá 2, Marbella | Official event | Ask organiser about spectator access and sessions |
| Before 22 December | Ralli visit within published opening days | Tue–Fri 10:00–17:00; Sat 10:00–15:00 | Urbanización Coral Beach, N-340 km 176 | Venue hours | Free entry; check exceptions, 952 857 923 |
| Christmas 2026/27 | Municipal switch-on, markets and parade details not yet verified on 22 October | Not confirmed | No confirmed municipal itinerary | Municipal tourism agenda | Recheck announcements; no assumed tickets or dates |
The final's published beginning and ending span different days. They do not establish continuous 10:00–22:00 opening every day. Do not assume competition registration includes visitor access or that there is a verified ticket price.
The Ralli closure matters
Ralli states that it closes from 22 December through 31 January, as well as Sundays and Mondays. A tourism entry for Habitar Raíces extends to 27 December; that end date does not override the museum's closure. Do not plan an exhibition visit on 27 December, Christmas week or in January on the strength of that listing. Before the closure, Ralli is an indoor option only during its actual opening days. Its published bus stop is Hotel Coral Beach.
For later December, choose a booked indoor meal, a café or shopping during confirmed opening hours. You can still explore the Old Town between showers, but not every gallery, museum or restaurant is open simply because the town is inhabited year-round. Check the specific venue rather than relying on a generic winter-opening claim.
Public holidays are not event announcements
Andalucía's official 2026 holiday calendar lists Monday 7 December as the substitute Constitution holiday, Tuesday 8 December as Immaculate Conception and Friday 25 December as Christmas Day. These are public holidays, not confirmation of a market, concert or festive dinner. Shops, transport, attractions and restaurants may use different schedules; blanket closure claims are not useful.
For an organised Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year's Eve dinner, ask the restaurant for the actual date, start time, menu, price unit, children's options, deposit, cancellation policy and whether drinks or entertainment are included. No specific 2026 festive dinner package is verified in this guide. Reserve only after receiving the current offer in writing.
A short December itinerary
- Day one: settle into a centre-based hotel, walk the Old Town in the driest part of the day, then reserve an indoor dinner. Do not build this day around an unannounced light ceremony.
- Day two: before 22 December, consider Ralli on an opening day; otherwise use a confirmed gallery appointment, café and shopping plan. In dry weather, add part of the promenade rather than committing to a long exposed route.
- Day three: explore Puerto Banús or San Pedro with a checked return bus or taxi plan. If the Palacio final overlaps your trip, verify spectator conditions before replacing this day with competition sessions.
Getting around and choosing a base
The centre gives convenient access to Old Town walks and nearby meals. Puerto Banús suits a marina-focused stay but is a different neighbourhood base, not a different municipality. Check the centre versus Puerto Banús comparison before choosing accommodation. Consult the local operator for holiday timetables; do not assume an evening return matches a weekday schedule.
Questions people ask
Are the Christmas lights dates confirmed? Not in this guide as of 22 October 2026. The municipal programme needs a fresh official check.
Is Ralli open at Christmas? No. Its published closure starts 22 December and continues through 31 January.
Should I expect beach weather? Treat the beach as a walking option, not a warmth or swimming guarantee. Pack for rain and cooler evenings.
Can I attend Vive tu Sueño without registering? Spectator access and session arrangements need confirmation from the organiser; we do not promise walk-in admission.
Read the Christmas status guide for festive booking questions and January 2027 for a quieter post-holiday stay. The winter overview compares the months without duplicating their calendars.
